We are affiliate sellers for Bluehost, and they are by far my favorite web host out there! They have quick and easy managed WordPress hosting that provides a simple user dashboard and easy access to files. They have a great uptime rate and their customer service is A+. But one of the main selling points for Bluehost is the fact that they offer a free SSL certificate (Godaddy charges like $75 a year for this). So if you have a new WordPress hosting account at Bluehost, or an established one, I wanted to share how to easily install your SSL certificate and take advantage of this great offer.
In your Bluehost dashboard, go to Marketplace and select Add-Ons. Scroll down to the area that says SSL Certificates and click the Learn More button.
Make sure you select your domain on the dropdown menu in the upper right corner (select Main domain, but if you have more than one WordPress installation you’ll want to be sure you are selecting the correct one. Then click the green Get Started button.
Then, just click the green Install button. You will be redirected to a confirmation page. And that’s it!
On occasion, the SSL certificate which is supposed to automatically renew, will NOT renew automatically. If you see a warning page on Google Chrome that looks like this:
Do not panic. It does mean that your site has been hacked, it just means that your SSL certificate needs to be reinstalled. So simply go back through this tutorial and reinstall the certificate. Within no time your site should be back. If you have further questions, please contact Bluehost.
