From time to time, Instagram updates their API and user interface, and you may notice that the instagram feed on your blog or website won’t load.  So before you go all Kylie Jenner Snapchat rant on Instagram, not to worry, it is very easy to update your Access Token.  This tutorial will show you how.

First, make sure that you are logged into your instagram account on your computer, in the same browser (eg. Google Chrome or Safari) as you are logged into your WordPress dashboard.

Step 1:  Your plugin may need to be updated, so make sure that your Instagram Feed plugin is active and up to date.  In your dashboard, go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.  Scroll down to Instagram Feed.  If you see a yellow box, just click the blue “Update Now” link.

Step 2:  Next, in your WordPress dashboard, scroll down to the Instagram Feed link in your left-hand menu.  This will bring you to a page looks like the one below.  Simply click on the blue “Log in and get my Access Token and User ID” button:

You may be directed to a page that looks like this one below.  If so, simply click the green Authorize button.  This allows instagram to display your instagram photos on your website or blog.

Step 3:  Finally, you can either click the blue Use This Token button after the token is generated, or simply copy and paste the generated Access Token into the Access Token box.  Then just scroll down and click the Save Changes button.  Your instagram feed should reappear.
