Summer is here, and you know, even though you wore sunscreen, that you got some sun last weekend! ย A few mojitos later, it’s easy to forget to reapply (no shame, sister!). ย It’s hard to avoid completely getting any sun at all, so embrace that hint of tan, whether it be from a bottle or the ol’ fashion way, with my very favorite summer accent color: gold!
I love, love, love gold in summer, it looks so great against a light suntan, and it pairs beautifully with my go-to color for summer which is white (a white button-down, to be specific, best over a bikini or a pair of cutoffs). ย It also looks great with chambray or seersucker and it makes brights like fuschia and emerald pop. ย No need to overdo it,ย but a metallic clutch or pair of sandals (I bought a pair of gold Michael Kors espadrilles last year that practically have holes in them now) is an easy alternative to heavy jewelry. ย If you do go for a statement piece (prob best to keep it to just one item), a big, chunky gold ring is utter perfection. ย Finish off the look with the tiniest bit of shimmering body lotion. ย Sure, silver shines, but this year I’m sticking to the gold standard. ย Enjoy!
