Ya’ll I painted a built-in! When we moved a few years ago, we had a giant built-in bookshelf, and not like, a nice mahogany one either, this one wasn’t so great, and while I guess it wasn’t technically built-in it was pretty much so secured to the floor it was immovable. We have lots of trees around our living room and they block out the sun in spring and summer, so I wanted it to be as bright as possible. What to do? The solution? Paint it, paint it white! I love a white bookcase or cabinet, I think white allows your cabinet displays to shine. White can be a little cold, so I’m always on the lookout for natural touches to warm things up. One of my favorite accents is birch branches, I pick them up on the golf course when I see them, and any kind of greenery or foliage is always so great too for giving your space that natural vibe and bringing the outdoors in. It’s so hard to find things these days that I’m trying to repurpose what I have if I can, but I recently came across Sogeshome.com which has some great, inexpensive furniture finds if you’re looking. Sparkling silver and mercury glass are a sure way to glam up your space as well if that’s your vibe. Here are some of my favorite white bookshelf inspiration shorts, bookshelves and bookcases are super easy and fun to update and style, so go out on a limb with yours and see what you can do!
