The Vintage Bath is Back

When you think about vintage, bathrooms aren’t usually the thing that comes to mind.  Most people love their bathrooms bright and shiny, neat and clean and I’m no exception.  But I’ve been looking around for ways to bring that vintage feel to a bathroom without making it feel dusty and dated.  Here is some of my favorite inspiration of late, and some fab ideas to help bring that vintage vibe back to the bath.  I’m loving this galvanized metal wall hanging, honestly it just looks like a random piece of found architectural material, but it adds a whole dimension to the tiny bathroom.  You could easily do the same with hanging windowpanes which are easy to find at salvage shops and antique stores.  A row of antique candleholders on a slab of found wood doubles as a tub organizer.  Another fab idea is a vintage vanity, once again, you can source these at home salvage and antique and thrift stores, but the key is to make sure your fixtures are new.  So a raw wood vanity cabinet loses its dated mustiness with a fresh new countertop and fixtures brighten the whole thing up.  Bathrooms are such small spaces (in the real world!), a little can go a long way in giving your bath that unique, vintage vibe, so try starting with one or two items and see what a difference that can make.
