Do you love instagram? I love it too, though I engage a lot more on my personal account than my business one sadly, but here’s a secret you might not know about instagram. You don’t really own anything, ha! I mean, I’m not sure what their policies are on photo ownership, copyright, etc. but the bottom line is, if you’re an influencer or want to be, and are making money off of instagram, you are subject to any whims or changes that instagram may want to make at any time. Maybe someday they will stop allowing sponsored posts. Maybe someday they’ll deactivate your account for no real reason at all (I’ve seen it happen). Bottom line, instagram is a third-party platform, and they can do whatever they want, when they want.
So I always recommend to anyone who is active on instagram to consider a personal blog as well. The reason? With a self-hosted WordPress blog, you are in control. You own the domain, you own the content, and no one can take that away from you! There’s a tremendous freedom in owning your own stuff and not being tied to a third-party platform. Also, it’s an additional space for sponsorship, affiliate widgets, etc. so it offers you even more ways to make money digitally and generate passive income.
