Amazon Affiliates is a great way to earn extra money while blogging. The Amazon affiliate widgets are not as attractive as say Shopstyle Collective or Rewardstyle, but not everyone gets approved for those, so I’m going to show you how to add an attractive 3 column widget to a WordPress blog post or page that highlights your favorite Amazon products.
To start, you need to sign up for and be approved as an Amazon Affiliate. You can visit Amazon Affiliates here to sign up.
In a blog post or page, simply click your mouse where you want to add your widget, and click on the blue Plus sign in upper left corner. Then simply type “Columns” in the search box, and click on the Columns graphic:
Now just select the number of columns you would like. I use 3 1/3 columns:
Now head over to your Amazon Affiliates account. This is the link I use to access my Amazon Affiliates page: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/home
Simply search for your product in the search box:
Once you have found the product you want to promote, click the Get Link button:
Then simply navigate the “Image Only” selection. You can also choose text and images, but for aesthetics, I like the Image Only option. All you have to do is to copy he HTML code that appears:
Back on your WordPress post or page, click the plus sign in the first column of the Columns widget you added in Step 1. Type “custom HTML” in the search box, and click the Custom HTML button to add custom HTML placeholder in your column:
Now just paste the code you copied from Amazon in Step 5 into the Custom HTML placeholder box. Repeat Steps 3 through 6 for each product you want to add:
And now when you go to publish your post or page, you’ll have a simple, chic and cute 3 column widget of your Amazon picks like so:
You can create as many widgets as you want. Just remember to be sure to make a notation if you will earn a commission off of your products for discloser. This can go in your blog or site footer or in post or page itself.
